Media Release - 2016 HiNZ Conference

New Zealand’s largest digital health event combines four conferences in one week

The 2016 Health Informatics New Zealand (HiNZ) Conference, running at SKYCITY Convention Centre in Auckland this November, is set to be its biggest yet.

HiNZ as conference organiser is working with the Australasian Telehealth Society, The University of Queensland’s Centre for Online Health and Nurse Executives NZ to combine four conferences into one dynamic week.

Its two national events, the HiNZ Conference and the NZ Nursing Informatics Conference, will be held concurrently with Global Telehealth and Successes and Failures in Telehealth. It is the first time the latter two international events have been held in New Zealand.

The conference will be opened on 1 November 2016 by the Rt. Hon. Dr. Jonathan Coleman, Minister of Health. The Director-General of Health, Chai Chuah will deliver the closing keynote on 3 November.

HiNZ is expecting over 1,000 delegates, who once registered can attend any of the four conference sessions. A major attraction will be the eight international keynotes, speaking on the latest developments in digital health from around the world.

Renowned global health expert, Lord Nigel Crisp is the lead plenary keynote. Lord Crisp co-chairs the All Party Parliamentary Group on Global Health. He was Chief Executive of the National Health Service (NHS) in England and Permanent Secretary of the UK Department of Health between 2000 and 2006. Lord Crisp will speak on health leadership in the changing digital health world, and how leaders can understand and use the new dynamic environment to improve the health and well-being of communities.

“Bringing together these four prestigious events for the first time will provide New Zealand digital health professionals with a unique opportunity to network with global experts in one convenient location”, says HiNZ Chief Executive, Kim Mundell.

HiNZ is a member organisation where health and IT professionals come together to share ideas and build knowledge about the use of information technology in the health sector. For more information on the HiNZ conference and its extensive line up of keynote speakers go to www.hinz.org.nz
